De Montfort University employed ourselves to install a back up chiller on the roof of the Hugh Aston building. New pipework was installed to the chiller and the final system was appropriately chemically dosed and commissioned. Acting as principle contractor we coordinated all aspects of this project including electrical works.

This project was undertaken within a live university environment therefore it was crucial to keep disruption to staff and students to an absolute minimum. Draining down and cutting into the original chilled water system was completed out of hours at a weekend. This was to ensure that the chilled water services were all operational during normal university hours on the following Monday.

Due to the size of the chiller unit a crane lift was necessary to site the plant on the roof. All necessary road closure permits were acquired and clear lines of communication with the University were maintained to ensure a safe lift was conducted.

The client expressed their satisfaction with our work on this project and additionally awarded us with an order to renew the chilled pipework throughout the risers as well as the plantroom of the Hugh Aston building.
